What led you to start Best Speech Therapy?

I always intended to open a private practice. Over time, with experience across multiple clinical settings, that vision became more defined. I wanted to build a boutique practice centered on quality of care – where thoughtful evaluation and clinical decision-making take priority over volume.

The expert witness component developed more organically. I was initially asked to assist on a case involving Spanish-language audio evidence, which drew on both my clinical and bilingual background. Through that experience, I began to see how my training could be applied in a legal context – particularly in analyzing care, documentation, and clinical decision-making.

I found that this type of work fits well with how I approach clinical reasoning and analysis. It aligns with how I think -structured, analytical, and focused on systems and patterns – so it has become a natural extension of my practice.

What sets your business apart from your competitors?
My background spans pediatric and adult populations across medical, early intervention, school settings in addition to outpatient and inpatient hospital environments. That cross-setting perspective allows me to evaluate care within the full clinical context, rather than in isolation.

In expert witness work, this translates to pions that are grounded in both documentation and real-world clinical practice.

What is something you wish you’d known when you were just starting your business?
That clarity of focus matters more than trying to do everything well. As my practice has evolved, I’ve become more intentional about the type of work I take on and the value I bring.

What is one unexpected way your business has changed so far in your journey?

The shift towards expert witness work wasn’t something I initially planned, but it has become a meaningful extension fo my clinical background. It allows me to apply my experience in a different way-supporting clarity and accuracy in complex cases.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Providing clarity-whether that’s helping a family understand their family member’s needs or helping a legal team understand the clinical aspects of a case.

In both settings, the goal is the same: informed decision-making.

What is something you have learned about yourself/the industry since starting your business?

I’ve learned that strong clinical reasoning and clear communication are just as important as technical skill. In both healthcare adn legal settings, how information is interpreted can be just as impactful as the information itself.

How has being a part of the Strive community affected you and your business?

Being part of a professional workplace environment has provided both structure and connection. It’s valuable to be surrounded by professionals across different industries, particularly when there are opportunities for collaboration and shared perspective.

If you could have a conversation over coffee with yourself from 5 years ago, what would you say to him/her?
Trust your clinical judgement and stay focused on long-term direction. Not every opportunitiy needs to be pursued-alignment matters more than volume.

If you had a friend in town, and you could take them to one of your favorite restaurants or spots in your community, where would you take them?

I usually take them somewhere walkbable, like Bishop Arts area. It has a mix of restaurants, coffee shops, and local shops, so its easy to adjust based on the weather and their interests. I tend to choose places that feel unique to Dallas and offer good food or a relaxed setting for conversation.
