Welcome to our Member Spotlight Series, where we proudly showcase the businesses and individuals making a difference in our Strive Community and beyond. Today we have the pleasure of highlighting Jeremy Stevens, founder of ZoMedica Recovery Group, a health insurance recovery firm operating out of our Strive Willow Bend location in West Plano. Join us as we learn more about what led Jeremy to starting the business and what makes his work so rewarding!
Tell us a little about ZoMedica Recovery Group.
ZoMedica Recovery Group specializes in helping healthcare providers, particularly hospitals, recover lost revenue from denied or underpaid insurance claims. We use federal laws and industry expertise to overturn improperly denied claims, ensuring providers receive the reimbursements they’re entitled to. We have a particular focus on working with government payers, including the VA’s Community Care Network, and we excel at recovering complex and aged claims.
What led you to start ZoMedica Recovery Group?
After more than 15 years in the revenue recovery industry, including growing the VA department at Erisa Recovery Group, I realized there was a significant need for a specialized partner to help healthcare providers navigate the complexities of insurance and government claims. I founded ZoMedica Recovery Group in 2025 to focus on maximizing reimbursements for providers while advocating for fairness and accountability in the healthcare payment system.
What sets your business apart from your competitors?
Our deep understanding of government IT systems, regulations, and processes, particularly for VA claims, sets us apart. We have a proven track record of recovering aging and complex claims that others might overlook. Additionally, our personalized, client-centered approach ensures healthcare providers feel supported every step of the way.
What is something you wish you’d known when you were just starting your business?
I wish I had known how important it is to build a strong network of trusted partners and advisors early on. Starting a business requires wearing many hats, and having a network of experts to rely on for guidance makes all the difference.
How do you navigate your work-life balance?
Maintaining balance is challenging but essential. I prioritize clear boundaries between work and personal time, and I make time for my family and hobbies. Delegation and trusting my team have also been key to managing the workload effectively.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part is helping healthcare providers recover revenue they’ve worked hard to earn. Knowing that our work directly impacts their ability to provide quality care to patients, especially veterans, gives me a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment.
How has being a part of the Strive Willow Bend community affected you and your business?
Being part of the Strive Willow Bend community has been invaluable. It has provided a supportive environment for collaboration, networking, and growth. The resources and connections available here have helped us enhance our services and expand our impact.
If you had a friend in town and you could take them to one of your favorite restaurants or spots in your community, where would you take them?
I’d take them to Whiskey Cake for its amazing food and cozy atmosphere, followed by a stroll through The Shops at Legacy for some great shopping and conversation.
